Jewison Stream Courses

Jewison stream students will be enrolled in the below year-courses:

VIC190Y1 The Arts and Society
Dr. Adam Sol
VIC190Y: The Arts and Society, which shares its title with the Jewison Stream, has two goals. It gives an introduction to the topic of the interrelation between the arts and society in the western world over the last two centuries or so. And it presents practice in creative writing, broadly interpreted, as a way for course participants to develop their own inspiration and their insights into the role of art in society. Corequisite: VIC191Y1 and 1 FCE in any 100-level course in ARC or INI or DRM or VIS or MUS or ENG.

VIC191Y1 Artistic Creation and Public Issues
Prof. Robert Davidson
Prof. Rita Leistner
Prof. David Bezmozgis
Prof. Eric Friesen

This course teaches students to "read" art and media of various types using the aesthetic codes and terminology appropriate to the different forms covered. Divided into four modules led by different instructors, students will analyze Art (Painting and Graphic Novels), Photography, Music, and Film. The course also provides opportunities for practical experience at certain points during the year.

Corequisite: VIC190Y1 and 1 FCE in any 100-level course in ARC or INI or DRM or VIS or MUS or ENG.
