Bruce Meyer is a professor, poet, broadcaster, journalist, and author of over 40 books of poetry, non-fiction, short fiction, literary journalism, and pedagogy. He has been visiting writer/writer-in-residence at the University of Texas, Austin (Dobie House) and the University of Southern Mississippi. He has taught at the University of Toronto, McMaster University, the University of Windsor, Skidmore College, Laurentian University, Seneca College, Humber College and in addition to being Visiting Professor of Literature at Victoria College is current Professor, University Studies, English at Georgian College. He is the inaugural Poet Laureate of the City of Barrie. His broadcasts of the Great Books and Great Poetry with Michael Enright for CBC Radio One remain the network's bestselling spoken word CD series. His study of the Great Books, The Golden Thread: A Reader's Journey Through the Great Books was a national bestseller in 2000. From 1988 to 1990 he held a SSHRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Modern British and Canadian Literature and assembled a collection of World War One Canadian trench Literature for the National Library of Canada. His ground-breaking anthology, We Wasn't Pals: Canadian Poetry and Prose of the First World War (ed. with Barry Callaghan, afterword by Margaret Atwood) was the first anthology of World War One Canadian literature since 1918. His research in this area was based on his discovery of over fifty lost Canadian writers. His works have been the subject of documentaries on CBC Ideas, TV Ontario, and other networks. In 2010 he was a finalist in TV Ontario's Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition.
