Dr. John Mighton is the founder of JUMP (Junior Undiscovered Math Prodigies) Math, a charitable organization dedicated to showcasing the potential in children by nurturing an understanding and love for math in students and teachers. He is also currently a Fellow at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, and has taught mathematics at the University of Toronto, and philosophy at McMaster University. In addition to being a mathematician, Dr. Mighton is also a distinguished author and playwright. His plays have won a number of national awards including the Governor General's Literary Award for Drama, the Dora Award, the Chalmers Award and the Siminovitch Prize. Furthermore, Dr. Mighton acted in the award winning film Good Will Hunting. In 2004, he received the Ashoka Fellowship, recognizing his contributions in founding JUMP Math, and in 2010, Dr. Mighton was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
