Donald Harron 4T8

Don recieved the Distinguished Alumni Award for 2000 at the Gala Opening of the Isabel Bader Theatre on March 3, 2001.The announcement was made by Ben Hawkins (Vic 8T6), President of the Victoria College Alumni Association. He described Don as "one of Canada's leading entertainment personalities who has remained committed to Victoria as a volunteer and supporter since graduation".

Since the arrival of his alter ego Charlie Farquharson, Don has made thousands of people laugh. He has worked in radio and television, made a number of albums, and is the author of several best-selling books. Together with Norman Campbell, Don wrote the book and musical version of Anne of Green Gables, which is now in its 36 consecutive year at the Charlottetown Festival in Prince Edward Island. Don is also an accomplished actor on stage, whose distinguished theatre career has taken him to all the major venues, including Broadway, London's West End, and Stratford.

Don Harron (4T8) has been chosen as the winner of the Victoria College Distinguished Alumni Award for 2000, in recognition of his extrordinary contribution to society at large, and especially his committment to his community and college.
