Jack Batten 5T4

Author and broadcaster Jack Batten is the recipient of the 2003 Victoria College Distinguished Alumni Award. Batten has written 30 books, including four crime novels about a lawyer turned detective. His most recent book, The Man Who Ran Faster than Everyone: The Story of Tom Longboat, has won the Norma Fleck Award for non-fiction, the biggest prize in Canadian children's literature. The announcement of Batten's selection as Distinguished Alumni Award winner was made by AVC president Linda MacRae Vic 6T7 at the Graduates Christmas Luncheon Dec. 6. The festive crowd was treated to a speech by Batten about his "double life" at Vic.
