This new section offered in the Ideas for the World programme will explore a number of interesting topics related to environment and economics. The state of the environment has received much attention, both in the academy and in the public domain. Environmental concerns are complex and multi-disciplinary. Ethical questions of overuse of finite resources and our obligations to future generations will be discussed in this section. We will also address challenging questions about what it means to have ownership of natural resources and how corporations can themselves be ethical entities. We will meet with academics and professionals in the field and also reflect on the role the university can play in preparing global citizens who are able to think critically about the issues and provide concrete solutions.
