Concurrent Teacher Education Program

The Victoria College Concurrent Teacher Education Program (CTEP) is one of seven CTEP partner units at the University of Toronto. Vic CTEP enables students to receive an Honours Bachelor of Arts or an Honours Bachelor of Science degree concurrently with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. Unlike the consecutive teacher education program (a one-year B.Ed. program following a four-year undergraduate degree), the concurrent program integrates subject education and teacher training over five years. CTEP is offered in conjunction with OISE/UT (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in the University of Toronto).

The Vic CTEP program is designed for students wishing to teach at the primary/junior level (K -6). Teacher candidates will be provided with teacher training and knowledge of the urban environment. As part of their academic requirements students will complete various placements in Toronto schools. Students are also encouraged to complete a major in a program related to urban environment. Program requirements may be found in the Faculty of Arts and Science Calendar.

Admission to Vic CTEP, a second-year entry program, is by application only. For their first year of study, interested students are encouraged to apply to the Ryerson stream in Vic One as the recommended preparation. For admissions requirements and suggestions, please see the admissions page, linked below.

Applications for September 2013 entry will be open from April 1 to May 15, 2014.
