A "commuter" is a student who travels from home in order to get to class everyday - in other words, pretty much everyone who does not live in residence! Being one of the only colleges at U of T to offer extended programming exclusively for commuter students, we here at Victoria College aim to provide you with a memorable introduction to university life. Prior to September's Orientation Week, Commuter Orientation, or "Comm-O" as we like to call it, is a weekend of programming exclusively for our incoming class of commuter students - and yes, you can go to both O-Week and Comm-O!
All students who register for Commuter Orientation are guaranteed a room to stay in for Saturday night, and food throughout the weekend. Activities planned include talks on university life, information sessions, tours, socials, and lots of fun!
International Student Orientation-ISO (Thursday, August 29- Saturday, August 31, 2019)
ISO is our welcome and orientation program designed exclusively for International Students. Our team of staff & upper year International Mentors will welcome you on campus, help you discover the city, and provide support & programming to help ensure a successful transition into university. If you are a student living in residence at Victoria College for the 2019-2020 academic year, we will arrange for you to move into your residence room a day early (on Wednesday, August 28, 2019) so you have time to settle in, meet your peers, have time to complete all the logistics of moving into a new city like setting up your bank account, getting a local SIM card, your T-card, etc., all before Orientation and the start of classes.
Registration will open soon so mark your calendars for this year's ISO! August 29-31, 2019. Check back here to secure your spot!
You are eligible to participate in the program if you are:
- an International Student
- registered as a Victoria College student and/or living at Victoria College
- in your first year at the University of Toronto
The Victoria College Transition Mentorship Program, sponsored by the Victoria College Office of the Dean of Students, is an essential part of the first year experience of all incoming students.
All incoming students are paired with a Transition Mentor who will help guide them through their first year at Victoria College! Transition Mentors orient new students to university life by providing them with opportunities to meet other incoming students and to engage with the University of Toronto and Victoria College through Commuter Orientation and Orientation Week.
Transition Mentors also host weekly Success Series Programming
throughout the duration of the academic school year (see our "Success Series Programming" tab for more info!), and send weekly emails to their mentees about Vic events, programs, workshops, and resources.
Through active participation in the Transition Mentorship Program, incoming students will have the foundation for a successful transition into university, and likewise will gain the skills and knowledge to thrive, both academically and extracurricularly, throughout their undergraduate degree!
Orientation is one of the biggest events at Victoria College. Students, staff, and faculty come together to welcome incoming students to Victoria College. There are many ways to get involved.
