1) BURWASH OVERNIGHT STUDY SPACE
This year, VUSAC, The Don Team, Food Services, and Special Projects bring to
you Overnight Study Space during exam period.
Burwash Dining Hall will be open overnight for the following dates and times,
from 9:30pm until 7:30am on December 8 to December 20, EXCLUDING
December 17 and December 18.
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies will be served all night. Snack packs
will be arranged for by Food services for students. UTSU will also be making
visits during the study period to give out sandwiches and fruits.
The Senior Common Room and the Junior Common Room will be converted to
lounge space for students to take short naps and relax during the evenings.
2) VIC FOOD DRIVE
From VUSAC Education and Equity:
The Food Drive is almost finished! It runs until December 7th.
Donation boxes have been put up all around Vic. Faculty, Commuter Students
and Residence Buildings are competing for a SECRET GRAND PRIZE. Non-
perishable items only. To be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
3) ENVIRONMENT WEEK COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS EXTENDED - FRIDAY DEC 10
If you are interested in being a part of the Environment Week committee to
organize events, including the annual Environmental Fashion Show,
applications are online at http://vusac.ca/?p=923 . Applications are due
Friday, December 10. If you wish to be a designer, make up artist, hairstylist,
or general volunteer for Environment Week, please email

4) BIKE CLUB: MEMBERS WANTED
Do you love bikes, know anything (or want to learn) about fixing bikes, want
to run educational workshops on safe and fun cycling, want to hold cycling
events, or be a part of running the bike rental system? If any of the above
apply to you, join the new Vic club, "Betty and Dash: A Victoria Community

5) VICTORIA UNIVERSITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY: VIC MASCOT/LOGO
COMPETITION **DUE DATE NEAR
Create a design for your mascot. This can either be a drawing or a written
description of how you feel the future mascot of Victoria College should
appear. Just keep in mind the designs are limited to a lion. In addition to the
mascot design, we are also looking for a logo to represent the lion
symbolically. Get creative and remember the same rules apply to the logo in
terms of presenting your ideas. Either draw or provide a written description.
(Again, remember name, student number, and email). **Clearly label your
work with your name, student number, and preferred email address before

by Tuesday December 7th. We will not be accepting any more designs and
logos after this date.
6) UHSJ JOURNAL SUBMISSIONS
The Undergraduate Health Studies Journal (UHSJ) is accepting submissions for
its second annual publication!
Students are encouraged to submit essays, photography, art pieces, and short
opinion pieces. Please feel free to submit work completed for previous courses
or independent studies. Submissions should reflect UHSJ’s mandate of
promoting a multi-faceted approach to understanding health and illness in our
society and highlight the political, cultural, social and economic dimensions of
APA citation style
Submissions (including references) should be no longer than 5 pages
single-spaced with 1 inch margins and 12 pt font
Please include a pdf and word doc of your submission
The journal will be printed in black and white.

VUSAC President Akash Goel and Senior Don Sagar Rohailla will be holding a
review session for CHM138 students at 1PM on Friday the 10th of December.
The review forum will be held in the Reading Room in the Birge Carnegie
Building. This is an informal forum, so please bring all your questions.
The style of the forum will be discussion based, and the hope is to connect

9) VCDS WINTER SHOW: ARSENIC & OLD LACE
The Victoria College Drama Society is proud to present the Winter Show of
their 2010/2011 season: Arsenic and Old Lace.
Made into a popular film of the same title in 1944 starring Cary Grant and
Peter Lorre, "Arsenic and Old Lace" is a black comedy about what happens
when a family’s skeletons-in-the-basement can’t be hidden any longer. The
protagonist, Mortimer Brewster, is struggling to protect his elderly aunts, his
insane brother and his new finance from the clutches of his violent and
mysterious older brother, Jonathan and Jonathan’s suspicious assistant, Dr.
Einstein. The task becomes even harder when he finds out about his aunts’
Arsenic and Old Lace plays for three performances from January 21st to the
23rd at 8 PM in the Isabel Bader Theatre. Tickets can be purchased from
