Virtual Graduates Holiday Lecture

Dec. 11, 2021 11:00a.m. - 12:00p.m.

Everyone is welcome to ring in the holidays at the annual Victoria College Graduates Holiday Lecture (formerly the Graduates Christmas Luncheon). The event will feature a talk given by Professor Anne Urbancic, coordinator of the Vic One Program, where she teaches in both the Frye and Pearson streams. In addition, Victoria University President, Professor William Robins, and AVC President, Jordan LoMonaco Vic 1T8, will bring holiday greetings.

A distinguished scholar, Professor Urbancic was a member of the Department of Italian Studies from 1982 until 2014. Her studies have a primary focus on 19th- and 20th- century Italian literature and culture, including food culture. Her lecture will focus on the iconic Sophia Loren and her fascinating career as a cook and cookbook writer. Sophia Loren’s first cookbook, In the Kitchen with Love (1972), will be the focus of the discussion. The lecture will offer a unique insight into the woman whom many of us know primarily for her success in the film industry as a leading movie star.

Register for the Graduates Holiday Lecture by December 8, 2021. Please contact vic.alumni@utoronto.ca or 416-585-4500 with any questions about the event. Live captioning will be available during the event; please let us know should you require it.

Zoom details will be sent to all those who have registered by December 8.
