Graduate Applications and Professional Development

Date: Friday November 6th
Time: 11:00am-12:30pm
Location: VC102 (Old Vic)

Applying to graduate school is both an exciting and daunting project: you are looking into the many possibilities for the next phase of your life, and yet there are so many things to consider and complete before you hit ‘send’ on your applications. This workshop will help you with the many aspects of both thinking about, and assembling, graduate school applications including:researching and contacting programs; building relationships and asking for reference letters; and assembling the dossier of documents that are required for each application (a writing sample, cv, and personal research statement),the guidelines for which often differ from application to application. We will also discuss the ways in which applications should be tailored according to differing disciplinary norms or expectations. We encourage those who attend to bring any documents already prepared – current CVs or potential writing samples– to the workshop!
