Your Support Is the Fuel That Ignites Positive Change
Annual giving plays a key role in helping the University of Toronto bring together top minds to spark solutions to many of the world's most pressing challenges.
I'm a teaching stream faculty member at Victoria College and I see the impact of donor support every day. The generosity of donors like you makes a tremendous difference—on student financial aid, student services and signature programs like Vic One and Vic Ready.
Above all, your support helps encourage our students to invest time in exploring their creativity. Developing one's creativity is an extended process that goes beyond individual assignments.
By donating to the Vic Annual Fund today, you help our students expand their horizons and become active, creative global citizens.
I coordinate the Arthur Schawlow Stream in Physical Sciences of the Vic One program. While my background is in photonics, I also teach a holography course at Vic and I've recently developed a new, upper-year course, Creativity in the Sciences.
I teach my students that creativity is a step-by-step process of observing, experimenting and using their existing knowledge as a stepping stone to new knowledge. Knowledge is an essential ingredient for creativity.
I also help my students understand the social aspects of science. I lead them to see that science shapes society, and, in turn, society shapes science. With this insight, students begin to understand how their creativity can have an impact in the world.
Donor financial assistance is essential to supporting our efforts at Vic. Your gift helps inspire our students to reach their "aha" moment—when a new idea or solution suddenly presents itself.
Please support Victoria College today. Your generosity means so much. Thank you for being the spark that helps ignite the positive change we need in our world today.
